Donald K. Sultan uses industrial materials to create large-scale still life paintings, sculptures, and prints.
He earned a BFA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1973 and an MFA from the Art Institute of Chicago in 1975, pioneering new techniques during his studies. Sultan’s work is exhibited internationally, including solo shows at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Tate Modern in London. His pieces are held in over 50 major museum collections worldwide, from the Guggenheim Museum to the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. Recognitions include a Creative Artists Public Service Grant and a National Endowment for the Arts Visual Artist Fellowship, along with several honorary doctorates.
