Jaydan uses his upbringing in a family of tombstone makers to inform his artistic practice, focusing on the significance of heirlooms and objects in marking significant moments.
He studied at California College of the Arts and earned his MFA and MA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jaydan has had artist residencies at Penland School of Crafts and Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, and was a Fountainhead Fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University. He has received grants from the American Craft Council, North Carolina Arts Fellowship, and Peter S. Reed Foundation. Jaydan's work has been exhibited internationally and nationally, including at Design/Miami, Basel, Cheongju Craft Biennale, and museums like Museum of Craft and Design, Racine Art Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, and the Center for Craft, Creativity, and Design. He has taught at Rhode Island School of Design, Virginia Commonwealth University, California College of the Arts, and Penland School of Crafts.
