Nancy Murphy Spicer uses painting and drawing to explore their relationship to social, architectural, and geographic space.
Her work takes the form of works on paper, paintings, installations, and performances. Murphy Spicer has exhibited in galleries and museums in the US and Europe, with reviews in Sculpture Magazine, Art New England, Der Tagesspiegel Berlin, and Art Papers. She studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and completed an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC). Her work is in private collections in the US, Germany, and Japan. Presently, she is adjunct faculty at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Virginia Commonwealth University.
