Mac Ball uses inspiration from coastal southern landscapes to create his paintings. Raised in Charleston, South Carolina, he now lives in New Orleans, witnessing land loss and environmental devastation. Since Hurricane Katrina, his architectural firm has focused on sustainable water management, collaborating with experts from the Netherlands on urban design initiatives and coastal stormwater projects. Ball's love of Louisiana’s coastal landscape and fascination with how water alters perception have shaped his artistic direction in this era of sea level rise. His work, capturing movement and the refraction of light in highland streams, aims to reflect the beauty and magic of our changing planet.
