Lynda Ray uses encaustic and various other media to explore translucence and transcendence in her artworks.
She received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art and Design and attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, studying with Joseph Campbell and Agnes Martin. Ray's awards include the Massachusetts Artist Foundation Fellowship in Sculpture (1989) and being a finalist in Painting. Her work has been featured at OK Harris Gallery and AIR in NYC and included in Joanne Mattera's "The Art of Encaustic Painting." Ray has exhibited and conducted workshops across the U.S., including "Swept Away" at the Cape Cod Museum of Art, which traveled to the Hunterdon Museum. Presently, she is based in Richmond, Virginia, where she continues to exhibit and teach.
