REBEL: A rebellion of happiness, love, hope, color, beauty, aliveness in a world that feels unhinged.
My subject is color. Paintings emerge through the engagement with the materials themselves. The process is intuitive exploring color relationships and the space and light created within and around color.
I lean toward a feeling of simplicity in finished work, seeking that sweet spot of aliveness through the interplay of necessary opposites: containment and freedom. I find space in simple shapes, forms, and blocks of color. I want the work to spark a wordless, visceral experience of beauty and aliveness— a pure, energetic interaction with color and form, space and light.
