As a companion piece to the WOMEN VIEW catalog, Page Bond Gallery presents WOMEN PAINT, a comprehensive survey of twenty-four gallery artists and their painting practices. This pair of publications serves to highlight the women artists we have been so fortunate to work with over the past decade, in light of Women’s History Month 2022.
Our use of the word “paint” for the purposes of this publication is meant to transcend the classic notion of the work on canvas, and broaden this connotation to a treatment and transformation of surface. When one thinks of painting in the classical sense, the rich texture and impression of oil or acrylic works come to mind; but we can transfer these attributes to the artists’ choice of substrate, whether it be canvas, paper or board, and the impressions they relay to that surface. The works featured in WOMEN PAINT range in a variety of media to include encaustic paintings, collage, embroidery, assemblage, and printing practices such as aquatint, lithograph and screen printing. This collection of works speaks to a wide range of taste and style, consisting of representative compositions, abstraction, color experiments and graphic imageries.
All artists featured in WOMEN VIEW and WOMEN PAINT are participating in an initiative to provide aid to Ukrainian children and mothers by donating a portion of sales to the UNICEF: Children in Crossfire of Ukrainian Crisis fund. Donations may also be made directly to Unicef through this link.
